You are cordially invited to attend a weekend of virtual writing workshops, craft sessions, and open mic at the Vermont Young Writers' Conference, June 25-28, 2020. Now in our twentieth year, our doors are open to high school students who wish to share their passion for story, drama, and song with their writerly brothers and sisters—and with celebrated New England authors. We offer three days of virtual readings, improv, Moth storytelling, poetry slams, literary jazz/blues fusion, and extended friendship from our stronghold on Summer's Gale Farm, a 100 acre organic farm & learning center located in Leicester, Vermont.

Applicants can expect to receive a confirmation email before May 27.

For further instructions, and to be guided through the application process, please use the Apply button below.

Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction, Dramatic Writing, & Filmmaking applicants must submit a writing sample of no more than three pages. Poets/songwriters may submit a one-page sample, and songwriters & filmmakers are welcome to upload a recording of their work.

Please include your name on your submissions. Sending an excerpt of a larger piece is fine. If you would like to apply for a genre category that you have not yet explored (songwriting, for example) feel free to submit a corresponding piece of writing (prose or poetry) when applying for those categories.

The acceptance process is competitive; we look for quality writing and original voice. Please don't be afraid to take risks.

Once accepted, you will have an opportunity to review your work with your workshop peers.
